April 28, 2011 -- In just over a week (on Saturday, May 7) Melissa will play at the 4th Sarasota Songwriters Festival for the first time.  As is the case with such events, she will perform all original music.

“I’m very much looking forward to the Festival in Sarasota on May 7th,” she said.  “I have really enjoyed the songwriters festivals that I’ve gotten the opportunity to be a part of, so to have a new one to play at is exciting.”

Those that she was previously a part of were the prestigious 26th Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival in Alabama last November, and the 2nd Pensacola Beach Songwriters Festival one month earlier.  Her time at those two events clearly led to her getting to Nashville in January of this year.

“I met so many great people in Alabama and Pensacola Beach,” Melissa said.  “Their invitations to Nashville were without question what led to spending a week there a few months ago.”

With regards to the Florida event next weekend she added that, “I'm really looking forward to meeting other writers as well as getting to play my original songs for a new audience of people.”

Melissa added, “I’m grateful to Gene Bauer for putting me on the lineup of songwriters for the festival in Sarasota.  This is not a week-long event with a tremendous number of participants, so it’s an honor for me to be included among those that are going down there to play.”

Melissa is scheduled to go on at 5:30 and tickets are required for admission to the festival.  Visit the official website for more details.
